Born and raised in Houston, TX Courtney always had a passion for food. He perfected his gift in cooking by spending time in the kitchen with the women in his family growing up. In his college years he watched Food Network faithfully and tried out new recipes on anyone who would come over to visit. Eventually after his time in the army, he made the choice to attend The Art Institute of Houston to further sharpen his self-taught culinary skills. In that time he enjoyed catering for parties, brunches and developing sauces.
In 2017 when he and his wife decided to begin their vegan journey, the decision would also alter the way he cooked food forever. What started out as an effort to keep his wife from straying from the vegan diet, evolved into a whole new world of opportunity for the Chef. He had the unique opportunity to develop insanely flavorful vegan food that the city of Houston had never experienced before. Three food trucks, seven sauces, one vegan food store and a breakfast restaurant later, Courtney’s vegan cuisine has been experienced by people from all over the country, both vegans and non-vegans alike. He’s recently even had a chance to cook for famous pop-star, Lizzo as well as vegan celebrity and influencer Tabitha Brown, who was blown away by his Hot Honey Shrooms & Grits.
Chef Courtney’s vegan food has made such a huge impact on the city of Houston and he shows no signs of slowing down as he has so many concepts in mind. Check him out on Food Network’s Alex VS America “No Meat Challenge” episode.
